Country research America
In America the term “movies”
did not mean films but meant the people that made them. Early Hollywood locals
who didn’t like “invading” generally used it with disdain. The first ever film,
which was made in Hollywood, was a film called D.W. Griffiths in the year 1910
in old California.
Twilight movie’s opening weekend
totalled to $69.6 million, which was the biggest opening for a film directed by
a woman and starring a woman. A high
percentage of women, which was 80%, brought a majority of the tickets.
The largest film industry
market is by box office in United states which is my chosen country and also
China and Japan. The united states has one of the oldest film industries with
areas such as Hollywood which is established for its film study facilities such
as the American Film institute, LA film School.

Film Analysis
Introduction
In my assignment i will be talking about one harry potter film which is the first one called the philosopher stone. I chose this film because there are a lot of good shots in this film and the way it has been filmed is very good. This film is directed by JK Rowling about Harry Potter who is a young boy who has discovered his magical heritage in the school called Hogwarts. The first book off Harry potter and the philosophers stone was published on 26th of June 1997. In this film Harry Potter it is about a young school boy who has been whisked away from his foster parents away to the magical school which is called Hogwarts. In Harry Potter's journey he meets a lot of good loyal friends but then also makes a lot of enemies threw his time in the school.
I choose this film because I love the way it has been filmed and whole story behind it, it has by far been one of the best Harry Potter films that JK Rowling has produced. I like how it leads itself on to another Harry Potter film so it makes the person who is watching it want to see what happens in the second film.
In the opening scene of Harry Potter the main location of where it all begun was in a neighbourhood and on a road called Privet Drive. The camera shots in this first scene are interesting and the way it was all set out is very good too, They have an owl sitting on a street sign then the owl flies of and then appears an old man walking threw the forest he takes out his wand and zaps all the lampposts that are around him, The character that played that role was called Albus Dumbledore. The props are interesting in the opening scene as you have each character wearing a costume which represents that they are a wizard and that they are powerful, It describes where they are from and makes you think that they have magic which in the first scene shows you that they do.
Light and colour
In the opening scene the lighting and sound has been used well, but because it was set at night time it was dark and gloomy but on the characters faces you could see them clearly and it made them stand out above the darkness around them. The Colour that has been used is saturate and gives out kind of a cold feeling when you are watching it more then anything.
Costumes
Most of the costumes in the first scenes are ones that represent that they come from Hogwarts and that they are magical, Dumbledore is wearing a hat in the scene and the costumes that both characters are using really give you some sort of feel about them and you can kind of understand there personalities from just what they are wearing. The other professor is wearing dark clothing like a cloak and also she has glasses on also. It also sets the scene as well as it looks cold and gloomy the characters costumes really suit the scene and gives you a type of feeling.
Facial expressions
The facial expressions that are used in the opening scene you do not really see most of it in the actual film. There emotions in the film our just standard and straight to the point it goes with what the acting is giving off and the facial expressions let you know what is also going on in the scene.
Body Language
The characters body language in the scene also gives it off very well when they are walking towards the house they give of a type of feeling to the audience who is watching it.
Sound
The sound in the opening scene is just calm there is hardly any sound in the actual scene it just runs straight threw and then at the end of the first scene shows the sound and the music which you can hear the anthem of harry potter.
FINAL SCENE
The ending scene of Harry potter is very good and also interesting and happy for all Harry Potter fans at the end of it, they are getting the train back to home from Hogwarts and Harry gets told that there will always be a place at Hogwarts for harry. I love the ending scene because it is happy and makes you think that Harry and his pals made it threw the adventure of Hogwarts. They end up back at the platform at the train station they first catch it at the beginning of the film.

Narrative Theory
Prop (Characters) - In this scene at the end the character "Danny Dyer" walks into the pub and has a few expressions on his face because you can tell by his reactions he is in a bad place. There are other characters around in the scene also who are all together as he walks in.
Barthes (Puzzles) - There are a few twists and turns in the film and a very big one at the end, throughout the whole film you start to understand little things as you look more into it and the ending scene you understand because the whole film will then make sense to you.
Todorov - (story and plot) - The story of Football Factory is about 2 rival firms which are Chelsea and Milwall who are rival football teams. It is a journey of their lives and how they live their life, when watching it you understand what actually happens in real life football hooligans. A summary of the whole film would pretty much be the fact they go to football away games and meet firms after or before the game and have fights with them. At the very end one of the main characters gets shot dead and audience is left with a series of black and white stills telling you what happened to the characters
Levi - Stauss - (opposite) rival vs rival

sherlock holmes
In this Sherlock Holmes opening scene the music is orchestral and gloomy. It makes the scene of what is going on in it and sets the whole opening scene. When it hits a 0:15 the music starts to get a bit more aggressive and you can hear the different instruments and a lot more intense music is starting to play. The music and sound in the Sherlock Holmes opening scene has a lot going on in it so it is quite noisy and would draw the person watching this shows attention.
The non diegetic - In the Sherlock Holmes clip of the opening scene it has Diegetic sound in it. It has objects that make sound which kind of explains what is going on in the clip. When i was reviewing this clip i did spot a lot of diegetic sound in the clip, it was creating a kind of meaning to what is going on in the scene.
The only thing i couldn't find in the clip when listening to it was the voice of the characters the whole 1 minute clip just consumed of music and that was it really, it did not have any of the people in the actual video speaking in there.
Music that i can hear
Horse noises
Gun shots
A whip
A person breathing
A crow
Glass and wood being broken
A crow
In the diegetic i can hear a horse chasing after the horse, as this all went on the music began to get louder and everything started to get faster. When things like this happen in the scene it all starts to get intense.
